Isla Magdalena

If you are visiting the Punta Arenas area, you may want to take a tour of the Isla Magdalena in order to see the penguin colonies. About 75,000 penguins live on the island each year. The penguins arrive each year in October from Brazil and stay there to breed and raise their chicks.

Glacier Balmacedo

There are various glaciers that you can visit when you are touring Chile. This is just one of them. This particular glacier near the Balmaceda Mountain range. The glacier is slowly melting and although it once was at sea level 15 years ago, it now does not touch the sea. The only way to see this glacier is by taking a boat tour. If the weather is nice enough, you can see the top of the mountain in addition to the glacier.

Valparaiso

No trip to Chile would be complete without a trip to Valparaiso. The city’s name means going to paradise in English it is said. The city has also been declared a Unesco World Heritage Site because it is a melting pot of sorts where people of different cultures co-exist.
